Bug-Off!
A downloadable game for Windows
Welcome to the BUG-OFF, a grand invitational competition hosted by the shadow government which pits the world's premiere bug-catching professionals against one another for a prize of ONE BUGILLION dollars!
Up to EIGHT players can join a lobby. Once the game is started, no more players can join!
There are a total of 20 different species of insect scattered around the custom-terraformed ARENA VALLEY! Try to catch them all!
Make use of your expert sneaking skills to sneak up on bugs and catch them before they notice you and fly off! (When they're not flying, bugs will react to the movement of your net - their alertness level is indicated by the exclamation point indicator above them. If you bug them too much, they'll fly away!)
Featuring REVOLUTIONARY mouse-propelled bug net controls, and a prototype NET-CAM that shows you what your net sees so you can perform your best even without true depth perception!
Controls
- Hold LEFT CLICK and move your mouse to swing your net around!
- Use LEFT CONTROL to toggle CROUCH mode so you can creep up behind unsuspecting arthropods!
- Press SPACE BAR to JUMP into the air!
Hosting a Server
You can play on your own without doing anything fancy by clicking HOST SERVER, but if you want to play with friends, you'll have to port-forward port 7777 on your router, and add rules to your firewalls allowing inbound traffic through that port. If you're stuck, just look up 'how to port-forward' to access decades' worth of collective wisdom on the subject.
Once you've port-forwarded port 7777, just click HOST SERVER, and give your friends your IP address (you can find out your IP address with a site like ipchicken.com). They can connect to your lobby by putting your IP address into the IP address field, and hitting CONNECT. Happy bugging!

In order to host a game, make sure to portforward port 7777 on your router, and add rules in your computer firewall to let internet traffic through on that port! You'll need to give your friends your IP in order for them to connect.
